Read receipts
Know when someone opens an email you sent — two blue ticks, with the time and the view count.
CommSync can tell you when someone opens an email you sent. The feature lives inside CommSync — no browser extension, no third-party service. It works like the ticks in a messaging app. One grey tick means the email went out. Two blue ticks mean the other person opened it.
Hover over the ticks on any sent email to see the details: the first open time, the view count, and the most recent view.
How to read the ticks

Every teammate who can see the conversation sees the same ticks.
Where you control it
Read receipts follow one simple rule: the most specific choice wins.
One email
The composer has a double-tick button next to the attach button. Click it to turn the receipt on or off for that one email. The next email starts back on your usual setting.
One conversation
Open the conversation menu (⋯) and choose Read receipts. "Always on here" and "Off here" hold for this conversation, whatever your default says.
One contact
Open the contact card and set Read receipts there. The choice covers every email you send to that contact.
Your default
Settings → Account → Read receipts is the default for every new email. It is on when you start.
The composer button always shows the choice that currently applies, so you know before you press Send.
What the other person sees
Nothing. The email carries a tiny invisible image — the same technique every mail tracker uses. The recipient gets a normal email.
What the ticks can and cannot promise
- Two blue ticks are reliable: someone opened the email.
- One grey tick does not mean "not read". Some mail apps block remote images. An email opened there never reports back. Read one tick as "not seen yet, as far as CommSync can tell".
- Some privacy services open emails automatically for the reader. CommSync ignores opens in the first seconds after a send, which removes the common false positive.
- Your own reading never counts. When you — or a teammate — open the sent email inside CommSync, the ticks do not change.
Notes for teams
- The open state belongs to the conversation. Every teammate with access reads the same ticks.
- The per-contact and per-conversation choices are personal. Your "off for this client" does not change a teammate's setting.
- Integrations can listen too: the
email.openedwebhook event fires on each distinct open, with the same time and count. - Replies that quote a tracked email stay safe. CommSync removes its own receipt image from quoted copies inside your workspace. A teammate who reads the reply never counts as the client's open.
