Quickstart
From a fresh account to your first unified thread — connect a channel, send a message, and watch SMS and email collapse into one conversation.
This walkthrough takes you to the moment it clicks: a single thread that holds both a text message and an email from the same person.
Connect a channel
New accounts land in the guided setup at /onboarding. It walks you through the steps to connect a first channel. A Microsoft mailbox (Outlook.com or Microsoft 365) connects with Sign in with Microsoft. Other mailboxes connect with an app password (see Email accounts). The wizard also links directly to the credential pages of each phone platform. The inbox does not open until you finish this step.
You can add more lines later. Open Settings. Then go to Phone numbers or Email accounts to add one. If you get stuck, use Get free help setting this up. This link appears on the wizard and at the bottom of every setup guide. It sends your ask straight to our team, along with the step you are on. We will reply by email.
When setup finishes, the wizard offers a short feature tour at /onboarding/features — fourteen scenes covering the inbox, contacts and teams, the AI layer, and the developer platform. It stays one click away in the sidebar ("Explore features") for your first two days.
Send your first message
From the inbox, start a new conversation. Pick the channel to send from and a recipient. CommSync creates the contact and thread automatically.
SMS and Email messages both land in the same inbox.
Unify identities
When the same person reaches you on a second channel, open their contact panel. Attach or merge the new phone number or email address into their existing contact. Both channels then share one thread — see Merging identities for the full walkthrough.
Talk to CommSync through the API
Prefer to drive CommSync from code or an agent? Authenticate with an API key and call the MCP server.
curl -X POST "$COMMSYNC_API/api/mcp" \
-H "Authorization: Bearer csk_your_api_key" \
-H "Content-Type: application/json" \
-d '{"jsonrpc":"2.0","id":1,"method":"tools/list"}'Where to next
Open Core concepts to understand the model behind the inbox. To go deeper, open Threading.
The mobile account flow
The mobile app can reset your password from the sign-in screen. Choose Forgot password? to ask for a reset link. The response does not confirm whether an account exists.
CommSync limits how often one address can ask for a link. After the limit, the screen shows how many minutes to wait. The wait applies to every address, so it tells an attacker nothing.
After sign-in, an account without a workspace shows the workspace setup screen. You can create a personal workspace or a team workspace. You can also accept an invitation or ask to join with a code. The app shows available matches for your email domain. A pending request stays on the approval screen until an administrator decides. You can withdraw the request from that screen.
Mobile account creation appears only when the service enables it.
