Quo
CommSync reads the texts, the calls, and the voicemail on the Quo lines you pick.
Quoformerly OpenPhone
Bring the lines of your Quo workspace into your CommSync inbox.
Quo renamed itself from OpenPhone. It is a business phone platform. When you connect it, CommSync reads the texts and the calls on the lines you pick. CommSync threads them by contact, next to your email. A reply from CommSync goes out through Quo, from the same number.
You connect Quo with one workspace API key. CommSync does the rest: it lists your lines, it registers its own webhook, and it imports the history you ask for.
Phone providers explains what every connection does. This page adds what Quo does differently.
Before you start
- Quo owner or admin role
- An active Quo plan (Starter, Business, or Scale)
Good to know
- Quo bills each text sent from CommSync at $0.01 per segment from your Quo API credits, so keep them funded in Settings › Plans & Billing.
- Texts to US numbers go out only after Quo approves your US carrier registration.
- Quo does not let apps send pictures, so replies from CommSync are text only.
- Call transcripts and summaries need a Quo Business or Scale plan.
- Check your role in Quo. You need the Owner or Admin role in the Quo workspace. A member does not see the API tab.
- Fund your Quo API credits. Quo bills each text that an app sends at $0.01 per segment, from prepaid credits. Open Settings → Plans & Billing in Quo. Add credits there. Turn on auto-recharge, so a reply from CommSync always has the credit it needs.
- Finish US carrier registration. Quo sends a text to a US number only after it approves your US carrier registration. Until then, a send to a US number fails, and CommSync shows you the reason.
Connect Quo
Open Settings → Phone numbers and pick Quo.
Use a workspace API key
Open Settings › API
The API tab is in your workspace settings.
Click Generate API key
Name the key CommSync. Quo does not allow spaces in the name.
Copy the key, then paste it on the next page
Paste the key into CommSync
Open Settings → Phone numbers and pick Quo. Paste the key. CommSync checks it with Quo and stores it encrypted.
Finish in CommSync
Pick the lines
CommSync lists every line on the workspace, with its name and its number. Pick the ones you want in your inbox. A line that Quo restricts in every region reads This line cannot send texts, and you cannot pick it.
CommSync sets up live updates
CommSync then registers one webhook on your Quo workspace, filtered to the lines you picked. The account card shows Connected. If Quo refuses the webhook that moment, the card tells you. CommSync keeps the account on its 5-minute sync. The daily check builds the webhook as soon as Quo accepts it.
Choose how much history to import
Quo shares older conversations, so CommSync offers a window: 30 days, 90 days, all time, or none. Quo cannot count a window before the import, so the card shows your free storage and never a made-up number. The import stops by itself at your plan storage.

| What | Direction | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Texts | Both | One to one, and group texts of up to 10 people. |
| Pictures and files | Inbound | Quo delivers them to CommSync. Quo does not let an app send them. |
| Calls | Inbound and outbound | With the outcome, the ring time, and the talk time. |
| Voicemail | Inbound | With Quo’s own transcript, and the recording. |
| Call recordings | Both | CommSync keeps the first segment of a transferred call. |
| Call transcripts | Both | Quo Business or Scale. |
| Call summaries | Both | Quo Business or Scale. |
| Contact names | Inbound | CommSync reads the contact that Quo matched, and names the number. |
Live traffic arrives by webhook, so a new text appears at once. A sync runs every 5 minutes as well. It catches a text that a webhook missed, and a send that is still on its way. Once a day, CommSync also checks that its webhook is still in your Quo workspace, and it builds a new one when somebody removed it.
Calls and voicemail
- Calls. Quo reports each finished call, and CommSync shows it as a row in the conversation.
- Voicemail. Quo sends its own transcript. CommSync waits up to 10 minutes for it, then writes one with AI.
- Call transcripts. Quo shares a transcript of a recorded call.
- Call summaries. Quo shares an AI summary of a call.
- Recordings. A call row carries its recording, when Quo kept one.
Call transcripts and call summaries need Business or Scale. On Starter, CommSync still shows the call and the voicemail.
See calls and voicemail for how a call reads in the inbox.
Limits
-
Pictures you send: none. Quo does not let CommSync send pictures.
-
Group replies: a reply in a group conversation goes to every member as one text.
-
No outbound pictures. The Quo API accepts no media on a send, so a Quo line is text only.
-
Ten people in a group text. One text holds 1,600 characters. Both limits are Quo’s own.
-
No history for a group call. Quo lists the calls of one number at a time.
-
Ten requests a second. CommSync paces itself under that budget, and the send shares it.
-
No password. CommSync holds the API key alone. Delete that key in Quo at any time.
-
Quo retries some failures. CommSync marks a text as not delivered only after Quo gives up.
When you attach a picture to a reply on a Quo line, the composer tells you that Quo cannot send it. CommSync never drops an attachment in silence. A large history import runs slower than the pace of the live traffic, and the account card says Importing history while it runs.
When something needs your attention
The account card in Settings → Phone numbers shows the state of the account, and each error names the one thing to do.
| What you see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Quo no longer accepts this API key. | Somebody deleted the key in Quo. Generate a new key, then reconnect. CommSync makes no more Quo requests until you do. |
| Your Quo subscription is not active. | Reactivate the plan in Quo under Settings → Plans & Billing, then try again. |
| Your Quo API credit balance is too low to send this text. | Add credits in Quo under Settings → Plans & Billing, then send the text again. |
| Quo cannot text US numbers from this line until US carrier registration is approved. | Finish the registration in Quo. Inbound texts and calls still arrive. |
| This Quo line reached its daily carrier limit for texts. | The carrier caps the line for the day. Try again tomorrow, or ask Quo to raise the limit. |
| This key cannot manage the Quo workspace. | A Quo member without the API role made the key. Ask a Quo owner or admin to make it. |
To stop the connection, remove the account from its card. CommSync deletes the webhook it made in Quo, and your past conversations stay in CommSync.
