Account settings
Your profile, your password, how the app looks, and how to delete your account, on the web and on the iPhone.
Your account is you: your sign-in, your name, and your personal switches. Your workspace is the team you work in. This page covers the account. For the workspace, see Team & seats and Billing & plans.
On the web, open Settings → Account. On the iPhone, open Settings and tap
the account card at the top.
Profile
- Profile picture. Upload a PNG, JPEG, WebP, or GIF image of up to 2 MB. Your teammates see it in the sidebar, the member list, and the account menu. Without a picture, CommSync shows a generated avatar with your initials.
- Name. Your name shows in message signatures and in the sidebar. Click Save changes after you edit it.
- Email. Your sign-in address is read-only. You cannot change it yourself. To change it, write to [email protected].
Your personal switches
These switches change only your own account. They do not change anything for your teammates.
| Switch | What it does | More |
|---|---|---|
| Default sending lines | The mailbox and the number that a new message starts from | Sending |
| Sent from CommSync | Adds a short "Sent from CommSync" line to each email you send | |
| Read receipts | Shows when a recipient opens your email | Read receipts |
| Comment mention emails | Emails you when a teammate mentions you in team comments | Team comments |
| Open replies in Focus mode | Opens each reply on the large writing canvas | Focus reply |
Appearance
Theme. CommSync has a light theme, a dark theme, and a system setting that follows your device.
- On the web, open the account menu at the bottom of the sidebar and pick Light, Dark, or System.
- On the iPhone, open
Settings → Appearance.
Inbox backdrop. When no conversation is open, the empty inbox pane on the
web shows a generated sky. The sky follows your theme: a night sky in dark mode,
and clouds and birds in light mode. For a plain background, open
Settings → Account → Appearance and switch Inbox backdrop off. The tips
and the compose prompt stay either way.
Password
On the iPhone, you can change your password:
- Open Settings and tap the account card.
- Tap Change password.
- Type your current password.
- Type the new password two times. Use at least eight characters.
- Tap Change password.
Your other signed-in devices stay signed in.
On the web, there is no change-password screen. To set a new password, use the reset link:
- Sign out.
- On the sign-in page, click Forgot password?.
- Type your email address. CommSync emails you a reset link.
- Open the link and set the new password. The link works for 60 minutes.
The same link works when you forget your password. A reset does not sign out your other devices.
Account access
Settings → Account also lists the times a teammate acted as you, when your
workspace uses Act as a teammate. Support access codes, which
let the CommSync team help you, are in Settings → Support access.
Delete your account
Account deletion is permanent. You cannot undo it.
On the web:
- Open
Settings → Account. - In Danger zone, click Delete my account.
- Type your email address to confirm.
- Click Delete account permanently.
On the iPhone:
- Open Settings and tap the account card.
- Tap Delete account.
- Read what goes, and tap Continue.
- Type your email address, and tap Delete My Account.
What CommSync deletes
- Your sign-in and your profile.
- Your contacts, labels, notes, and drafts.
- Each workspace where you are the only person, with its lines, conversations, messages, and stored files.
What stays
- A workspace that has other members stays. Messages that a teammate reads through their own line stay in their inbox.
- A line or an agent that you connected in a workspace that stays passes to the owner of that workspace.
When CommSync refuses
CommSync refuses the deletion in two cases, and tells you how to continue:
- You own a team with other members. Transfer ownership first. See Team & seats.
- An App Store subscription still renews. Only Apple can stop it. Cancel the CommSync subscription in the iPhone Settings app, under your name and Subscriptions. After that, delete the account. A subscription that you already cancelled does not block the deletion.
A card subscription does not block the deletion. CommSync cancels the card subscription of each workspace that it deletes.
