For VS Code users

VS Code works your inbox. Your lines only.

Connect VS Code to CommSync with one URL. It reads, searches, drafts, and sends texts and email on the lines you allow, and it never sees your password.

Connect VS Code

One URL. No secret to paste.

VS Code connects with OAuth. You give it the server URL, sign in to CommSync, and approve the app on one screen. You can disconnect it at any time.

  1. Step 1

    Use Add to VS Code on the Connect AI apps page, or add the entry below to .vscode/mcp.json.

  2. Step 2

    Start the server. VS Code asks you to sign in to CommSync.

  3. Step 3

    Allow access, then use the tools from Copilot agent mode.

.vscode/mcp.json
{
  "servers": {
    "commsync": { "type": "http", "url": "https://server.commsync.ai/api/mcp" }
  }

What VS Code can do

Everything you can do in CommSync, VS Code can do too.

The MCP server exposes the same services the CommSync app uses, from a search to building a whole agent. VS Code picks the tool; CommSync keeps it inside your lines.

223 tools in 27 sections. The same ones the CommSync app uses.

Things people ask VS Code
  • Search my inbox for the API key email from Twilio and quote the SID.
  • Reply to the customer thread in #support with the fix and the version.
  • List every webhook event CommSync sends, with a sample payload.
  • Create a to-do from the last text on the Leads line.
  • Read and search

    Threads, contacts, files, and smart cards, with search by meaning over mail, texts, and scanned attachments.

  • Send as you

    Replies and new texts or email from your lines. A send to an outside person is marked as such, so VS Code asks before it sends.

  • Build an agent

    96 tools cover agents: draft one from a description, give it knowledge and tools, write tests, read its analysis, and approve its drafts.

Made for VS Code

Copilot agent mode, with your lines in reach.

VS Code reads the server from .vscode/mcp.json and asks you to sign in once. From then on, Copilot agent mode can use the tools you allow.

  • Travels with the repo

    .vscode/mcp.json is a file in the project, so a teammate who opens the folder gets the connector and signs in with their own account.

  • Add to VS Code

    The Connect AI apps page in CommSync has an Add to VS Code button that writes the entry for you.

  • Pick the tools

    The tools picker in agent mode lists every CommSync tool. Tick the ones a task needs, and leave the sends unticked for a read-only session.

Your lines only

You choose the lines. CommSync holds the rest back.

On the consent screen you pick what VS Code can reach. A scoped app sees only the threads on its lines, and CommSync refuses a send from any other line.

  • No password

    VS Code never receives your password or an API key. It gets a token that lasts an hour and renews in the background.

  • Named apps

    VS Code runs on your computer, so the consent screen marks it as an app on this device and asks you to continue only if you just added CommSync yourself.

  • Disconnect

    Disconnect in Settings → Connect AI apps. The app stops at once, on every device. Change its lines without a new sign-in.

Start inside VS Code

No account yet? Start from VS Code.

When VS Code opens CommSync and you have no account, one visit does all of it. CommSync keeps the request open for up to 2 hours while you set up.

  1. Step 1

    Select Create an account, and enter your name, email address, and password.

  2. Step 2

    Enter the 6-digit code from the email, or use the button in it.

  3. Step 3

    Choose Just me or a team, then connect an email address or a phone number. The 7-day trial starts, with no card.

  4. Step 4

    CommSync takes you back to the consent screen. Select Allow access, and you are back in VS Code.

Questions

What VS Code gets, and what it does not.

Short answers for VS Code users.

Does VS Code get my password?
No. You sign in on the CommSync page. VS Code gets a token for your lines, CommSync stores only a hash of it, and a token that leaks is signed out when an old copy appears.
Can it send messages?
Yes, from the lines you allow. Tools such as send_sms and send_email are marked as sends, so VS Code asks before it sends to an outside person.
What is the server URL?
https://server.commsync.ai/api/mcp, for every app. Settings → Connect AI apps shows it with a copy button and a guide for each app.
Where is CommSync listed?
CommSync is in the official MCP Registry as ai.commsync/commsync, on Smithery, and on Glama. Any app that takes a remote MCP server URL can connect.
