For n8n users

n8n works your inbox. Your lines only.

Connect n8n to CommSync with one URL. It reads, searches, drafts, and sends texts and email on the lines you allow, and it never sees your password.

Connect n8n

One URL. No secret to paste.

n8n connects with OAuth. You give it the server URL, sign in to CommSync, and approve the app on one screen. You can disconnect it at any time.

  1. Step 1

Add an MCP Client node. Set Server Transport to HTTP Streamable. Set MCP Endpoint URL to your server URL.

  2. Step 2

Set Authentication to MCP OAuth2 and create a credential. Keep Use Dynamic Client Registration on. Set Server URL to the same URL, and save.

  3. Step 3

Click Connect. n8n opens CommSync. Sign in, choose the lines that n8n can use, then click Allow access.

Two directions

n8n calls CommSync. CommSync starts n8n.

An MCP Client node calls any CommSync tool from a workflow. A CommSync webhook posts a signed event to a Webhook node the moment a message arrives. Most workflows use both.

n8n calls CommSync

The MCP Client node calls a tool, for example list_threads, with JSON input. For an AI Agent, attach an MCP Client Tool node and set Tools to Include to Selected, so the model sees only the tools it needs.

Sign in with OAuth, or paste a csk_… API key as a Bearer token. A key can be limited to chosen lines.

CommSync starts n8n

A webhook endpoint in Settings posts message.received and 11 other events to your n8n Production URL. Each request carries X-CommSync-Signature, an HMAC-SHA256 over the time and the body, so the workflow can refuse anything else.

X-CommSync-Signature
t=<unix seconds>,v1=<hex>
# v1 = HMAC-SHA256(secret, "<t>.<body>")
  • Templates

Two ready workflows: Latest threads, and Inbound text to to-do. Import from File in n8n, then pick your credential.

  • Retries

A failed delivery retries at 1 minute, 5 minutes, 30 minutes, 2 hours, and 12 hours. The log keeps every attempt, with replay.

  • Secrets

Rotate a signing secret and both values stay valid for 24 hours, so a workflow never misses an event.

What n8n can do

Everything you can do in CommSync, n8n can do too.

The MCP server exposes the same services the CommSync app uses, from a search to building a whole agent. n8n picks the tool; CommSync keeps it inside your lines.

223 tools in 27 sections. The same ones the CommSync app uses.

Things people ask n8n
  • When a text arrives on the Leads line, create a to-do and post it to Slack.
  • Every morning, list yesterday’s threads and file a row per lead in a sheet.
  • When an agent escalates, open a ticket and text the owner.
  • Let an AI Agent node search my inbox before it answers a form.
  • Read and search

Threads, contacts, files, and smart cards, with search by meaning over mail, texts, and scanned attachments.

  • Send as you

Replies and new texts or email from your lines. A send to an outside person is marked as such, so n8n asks before it sends.

  • Build an agent

96 tools cover agents: draft one from a description, give it knowledge and tools, write tests, read its analysis, and approve its drafts.

Your lines only

You choose the lines. CommSync holds the rest back.

On the consent screen you pick what n8n can reach. A scoped app sees only the threads on its lines, and CommSync refuses a send from any other line.

  • No password

n8n never receives your password or an API key. It gets a token that lasts an hour and renews in the background.

  • Named apps

On n8n Cloud, the consent screen shows the n8n mark and the address of your workspace, so you can check it is yours.

  • Disconnect

Disconnect in Settings → Connect AI apps. The app stops at once, on every device. Change its lines without a new sign-in.

Questions

What n8n gets, and what it does not.

Short answers for n8n users.

Does n8n get my password?
No. You sign in on the CommSync page. n8n gets a token for your lines, CommSync stores only a hash of it, and a token that leaks is signed out when an old copy appears.
Can it send messages?
Yes, from the lines you allow. Tools such as send_sms and send_email are marked as sends, so n8n asks before it sends to an outside person.
What is the server URL?
https://server.commsync.ai/api/mcp, for every app. Settings → Connect AI apps shows it with a copy button and a guide for each app.
Where is CommSync listed?
CommSync is in the official MCP Registry as ai.commsync/commsync, on Smithery, and on Glama. Any app that takes a remote MCP server URL can connect.
