Two minutes, with an app password.
Gmail signs apps in with an app password: a 16-letter code that works where your normal password does not. CommSync opens Google beside the dialog, waits while you make the code, and tests the connection before it saves anything.
Gmail · Gmail and Google Workspace
- Step 1
Enter your address. CommSync recognises a Gmail mailbox and opens the Gmail guide.
- Step 2
Press Open Google and make the password. Google opens beside the dialog. Name the app CommSync, press Create, and copy the 16 letters.
- Step 3
Paste the code. CommSync tests the connection, then asks how much older mail to import.
Google shows the app password page only when 2-Step Verification is on.
Your mail comes through. Your mailbox stays yours.
CommSync keeps an IMAP IDLE connection open, so a new message lands in the right thread within seconds. It reads your mail; it does not rearrange it.
- New mail in seconds, over IMAP IDLE
- All Mail, so the Promotions, Updates, and Social tabs come too
- Your Sent and Spam folders
- Older mail, as far back as you choose
- Attachments, with their text made searchable
- Your mailbox, your filters, and your labels
- Read, star, and archive: they change in CommSync only
- Your Google password: CommSync never sees it
One thread per contact, and a day that runs itself.
Every message from one contact meets in one thread: their Gmail mail, their texts, and their calls. Then the rest of CommSync goes to work on it.

- Read receipts
See when someone opens an email you sent, like the ticks in a messaging app. No extension, no third party.
- Smart cards
Bills, receipts, shipments, and bookings become cards in the thread, with a reminder the day before a bill is due.
- Agents
An agent answers email on this mailbox in your voice, and waits for your approval until you trust it. Group threads are opt-in.
- Ask
Ask reads your attachments, scanned PDFs included, and answers with the message it found.
- Send later
Schedule a send, cancel it, or move it. Stop a mailing list with one press, from the email itself.
- From and via
Forwarded and routed mail shows its original sender, so a conversation sits under the person, not the relay.
What changes, and what does not.
Short answers for Gmail users.
- Does CommSync change my Gmail?
- No. Read, star, and archive stay in CommSync. The mail server changes only when you choose Delete permanently, which removes the mail on the server too.
- Why an app password?
- Gmail refuses your normal password from an app. An app password is a 16-letter code that Google makes for one app. It needs 2-Step Verification, and you can revoke it in your Google account at any time.
- Is the app password safe with CommSync?
- CommSync seals it with AES-256-GCM before it stores it, and holds the key separately. It is used only to read and send your mail.
- What about Google Workspace?
- A Workspace mailbox connects the same way. An admin can turn IMAP or app passwords off for everyone; the setup guide shows where.
