For Codex users

Codex works your inbox. Your lines only.

Connect Codex to CommSync with one URL. It reads, searches, drafts, and sends texts and email on the lines you allow, and it never sees your password.

Connect Codex

One URL. No secret to paste.

Codex connects with OAuth. You give it the server URL, sign in to CommSync, and approve the app on one screen. You can disconnect it at any time.

  1. Step 1

Codex installs from the same CommSync plugin page as ChatGPT. Add the plugin, then sign in to CommSync and allow access.

  2. Step 2

Or, from the terminal, add CommSync as a streamable HTTP server and sign in.

  3. Step 3

Codex opens your browser on the CommSync consent screen. Allow access and go back to the terminal.

Or from the terminal
codex mcp add commsync --url https://server.commsync.ai/api/mcp
codex mcp login commsync
Open the plugin

The same plugin page serves ChatGPT and Codex.

What Codex can do

Everything you can do in CommSync, Codex can do too.

The MCP server exposes the same services the CommSync app uses, from a search to building a whole agent. Codex picks the tool; CommSync keeps it inside your lines.

223 tools in 27 sections. The same ones the CommSync app uses.

Things people ask Codex
  • Register a webhook for message.received and write the handler for it.
  • List the last five threads on the Leads line as JSON.
  • Create a saved test for the Estimates agent and run it three times.
  • Export this week’s agent conversations as CSV.
  • Read and search

Threads, contacts, files, and smart cards, with search by meaning over mail, texts, and scanned attachments.

  • Send as you

Replies and new texts or email from your lines. A send to an outside person is marked as such, so Codex asks before it sends.

  • Build an agent

96 tools cover agents: draft one from a description, give it knowledge and tools, write tests, read its analysis, and approve its drafts.

Made for Codex

Code and inbox, in one run.

Codex reaches your lines from the app, the CLI, and the IDE extension. Ask for the webhook and the handler together, and it does both.

  • Two ways in

The plugin page, shared with ChatGPT, or two commands in the terminal: codex mcp add, then codex mcp login.

  • Register and write

Ask Codex to register a webhook for message.received and write the handler. It calls register_webhook, reads the sample payload from the docs, and writes the code in your repo.

  • Tests for an agent

Codex creates a saved test for an agent and runs it three times, and the results land on the Tests page of that agent.

Your lines only

You choose the lines. CommSync holds the rest back.

On the consent screen you pick what Codex can reach. A scoped app sees only the threads on its lines, and CommSync refuses a send from any other line.

  • No password

Codex never receives your password or an API key. It gets a token that lasts an hour and renews in the background.

  • Named apps

Codex runs on your computer, so the consent screen marks it as an app on this device and asks you to continue only if you just added CommSync yourself.

  • Disconnect

Disconnect in Settings → Connect AI apps. The app stops at once, on every device. Change its lines without a new sign-in.

Start inside Codex

No account yet? Start from Codex.

When Codex opens CommSync and you have no account, one visit does all of it. CommSync keeps the request open for up to 2 hours while you set up.

  1. Step 1

Select Create an account, and enter your name, email address, and password.

  2. Step 2

Enter the 6-digit code from the email, or use the button in it.

  3. Step 3

Choose Just me or a team, then connect an email address or a phone number. The 7-day trial starts, with no card.

  4. Step 4

CommSync takes you back to the consent screen. Select Allow access, and you are back in Codex.

Questions

What Codex gets, and what it does not.

Short answers for Codex users.

Does Codex get my password?
No. You sign in on the CommSync page. Codex gets a token for your lines, CommSync stores only a hash of it, and a token that leaks is signed out when an old copy appears.
Can it send messages?
Yes, from the lines you allow. Tools such as send_sms and send_email are marked as sends, so Codex asks before it sends to an outside person.
What is the server URL?
https://server.commsync.ai/api/mcp, for every app. Settings → Connect AI apps shows it with a copy button and a guide for each app.
Where is CommSync listed?
The CommSync plugin for ChatGPT and Codex has been live since 2026-10-09.
